While there a hundreds, even thousands of lawyers to select from in each city, it's very important to choose a lawyer who you can trust to handle your specific legal situation. Board certified lawyers have met The Florida Bar's highest standards for special knowledge, skills and proficiency in their certification area and for professionalism and ethics in the practice of law. As part of a board certified program by the Florida Bar, the following tips are to help clients make the right decision when it comes to selecting legal representation.
Certified Real Estate Attorneys handle issues related to real property transactions including, but not limited to:
- Real Estate conveyances
- Real estate development and financing
- Leases
- Title searches and examinations
- Determination of property rights
- Property transfers
- Zoning and land use planning
- Real estate litigation
Each lawyer certified in real estate law has at least five years of full-time experience. They've also had significant involvement in real estate law cases for at least three years.

- Pass Peer Review
- Complete 45 hours of continued legal education within the three years immediately preceding application
- Pass a written examination demonstrating proficiency, skill and mastery in the field of real estate law
Board certifications are valid for 5 years. From the time the certification is issued, till it expires, lawyers are required to attend continuing legal education courses.
To re-certify, lawyers must still pass the same required as initial certification. Please note that not all experienced lawyers are certified by the board. However those who are certified have their skills and expertise recognized by the Florida Board.
